Name of Position:  SAS Operations

 

During: 6 months +

 

Rate: $650/day

 

Responsibilities:

·          Help manage on-going operational maintenance of the SAS data marts to ensure data accuracy, availability and timeliness

·          Aid in the creation of new SAS data marts including audit reports to identify data discrepancies

·          Perform root cause analysis of data discrepancies

·          Interact with customers to elicit report requirements

·          Quickly generate ad hoc reports on SAS data sets for analysis

·          Develop cubes for OLAP

 

Requirements:

·          BS in a quantitative discipline

·          3-5 years of experience with SAS Programming inclucding Macros, SAS/Stat, ODS, and Proc Tabulate/Report/SQL

·          Good verbal and written communication skills

·          Experience with SAS EBI is a big plus

·          Experience with Access/Excel is a plus

·          Experience with some web programming is plus

This is an entry level SAS programming consulting position that could lead to a full-time position.  Our client in the San Jose area is looking for 2 detail-oriented SAS programmers to help take their product to the next level.  Analytics is an essential part of their service offering and we are in need of some impressive talent.

 

Good communication skills as well as fluency in English (written and oral) are required as is the ability to work as part of the existing multi-cultural/multi-ethnic team of SAS programmers, data analysts, data base specialists, and engineering specialists.  Rate is commensurate with experience and skills.

Abstract of Position:

·          Coordinates, programs, analyzes, and evaluates historical data; typically programs using SAS programming language

·          Advanced scripting using macros, proc SQL, proc sort, proc merge, proc dataset

·          Administrative coding responsibilities such as error handling/capturing, archiving, file management, temp workspace maintenance, and job monitoring

·          Debugging and trouble shooting issues which require a complex solution

·          Performance monitoring and suggest improvements (both code and design).

·          Interpret existing SAS code (especially macros) and be able to improve on it or convert code into

Pay Rate/Salary: Commensurate with experience

 

Skills/Education Requirements:

·          8-10 years of experience with Base SAS 9.1.3 and Enterprise Guide 4.3

·          Min of 7 years of experience in SAS MACRO programming

·          Has previous experience working as a SAS Admin or SAS IT

·          Experience with ETL related tasks using SAS on various RDBMS (especially Oracle)

·          Knowledge of Oracle database structure

·          Experience with proc SQL, proc sort, and manipulating Data Steps

·          Familiar with SAS BI Environment experience: work space server, metadata server, defining new libraries and assigning permissions using SAS MC, stored process server.

·          An understanding of or familiarity with Forecast Studio, HPF, SAS BI Architecture, is a plus.

·          BS/MS Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics is required

·          Good inter-personal skills and communication skills are also required.

·          Must be able to successfully interact with business users and statistical programming personnel.

·          Proactively partner with the business to evaluate business needs and application to existing process

·          Excellent written and verbal communication skills
