Name of Position: Internet Marketing Analysis Manager

 

Abstract of Position:

Be a part of the future of online advertising!

This role will utilize business, problem solving, analysis, data mining, and data management skills to develop key strategic quantitative analysis for eBay's Internet Marketing and Advertising team. Analysis will generally be project based and complex in nature, where large volumes of data are synthesized into actionable recommendations using advanced analytics. In addition to delivering new business insights through execution of analytic projects end-to-end, this role will have a strong data management component. This will involve ensuring quality data is accessible and available for all of eBay’s Marketing teams without redundancy; this will require close interaction with the business to determine requirements. Finally, this role will use complex analytics and management skills to provide strategic guidance and recommendations to the senior leadership team.

 

Job Requirements:

Analysis:

·          Manage analytics projects with focus on yield optimization for Internet Marketing/Advertising across eBay properties and channels.

·          Evaluate large and complex data sets, and apply advanced quantitative approaches in hypothesis evaluation.

·          Develop new frameworks, models and processes that operationalize key insights.

·          Become expert in leveraging the full breadth of eBay data sources and analytic resources.

 

Project Management:

·          Partner with various groups in the organization to design and execute projects.

·          Manage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish including project management, data gathering and manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving, and communication of insights and recommendations.

 

Data Management:

·          Work closely with the business to determine data usage requirements and ensure data is understood and used effectively by consumers.

·          Manage large and complex data sets; ensuring data is accurate, accessible and consumable.

·          Drive the coordination of synchronous data collection through relationship building and end to end projects, to reduce data redundancy and improve accuracy.

 

Communication:

·          Develop relationships with other analytic groups across the organization to share best practices, define new standards and identify opportunities for collaboration.

·          Act as the liaison between analytic groups and the data service team.

 

 

Basic Qualifications:

·          At least 5+ years experience in SQL, understanding of data warehouse architecture.

·          5+ years of experience working on or managing data centered projects.

·          Experience utilizing various statistical techniques in SAS to develop algorithms and predictive models a plus. 

·          Candidate must possess strong interpersonal and presentation skills as well as demonstrated skills in fact based analysis, including the ability to translate complicated data concepts for business users.

Name of Position: Manager-Statistical Modeling (Statistician)

 

Abstract of Position:

The major function of this Analytical role in the EDA (Experimental Design & Analysis) team is to drive business decisions for various business units – including but not limited to Finding(Search) & Advertising – using Modeling, Statistics, Design of Experiments, Testing & Analyses.  Key tools & methods used in the group are JMP, SAS, SQL, Excel, MS Office, etc. Domain knowledge in the field of Design of Experiments (DOE) and the associated statistical techniques for analysis (eg: ANOVA) is key.

 

The person will help in identifying the full set of onsite opportunities, estimating the revenue impact of various potential & alternative product rollout changes on eBay, mining the entire reservoir of eBay data assets as a source of insight on improved eBay user experience, deploying relevant analytical & statistical tools , and developing pragmatic and efficient methods for identifying key optimization opportunities.

 

The work of the Manager, Statistical Modeling will enable a fuller understanding of user experience and competitive Search and/or Advertising activities on the eBay website, and the related performance of the eBay business globally. The successful candidate for this role will utilize a broad range of quantitative techniques – data programming (SQL) as well as statistical methods and mathematical models – on a wide range of quantitative projects guided by the strategic program roadmap. As a critical analytic resource within the team this will be a key role anticipated to contribute significantly to the overall success of the team.

 

This role requires a strong proficiency in one or more quantitative disciplines such as statistics, econometrics, operations research, applied mathematics, quantitative methods, research methodology, financial engineering, etc

 

Job Requirements:

Supporting detailed cross-functional work with other business teams – managers and analysts - to identify the established and planned Finding & Advertising  processes on the eBay platforms. Devise suitable quantitative models that will deliver clarity of understanding, permit valid inferences, and have functional predictive capability in optimizing Finding & Advertising performance on a global basis.

 

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree in statistical or mathematical discipline 
(or an equivalent advanced certification) or highly specialized MBA with emphasis on quantitative methods. A minimum of 6 years' work experience in a relevant area, such as the fields of Statistics, Econometrics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Financial Engineering, or similar Quantitative Research. 

Advanced expertise using analysis tools in statistical programming (such as JMP, SAS, SPSS, or R/S-PLUS, etc)  or in mathematical modeling (such as Matlab, Mathematica, or similar) is required. Working knowledge with data management queries and related applications such as the following is desirable: SQL, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, VBA.

Name of Position: Mgr, Statistical Modeling – Loyalty

 

Abstract of Position:

Understand the key elements of eBay’s Loyalty Marketing and Relationship Marketing businesses, paying particular attention to the objectives and operational details of the entire set of marketing channels and levers.

 

Collaboratively work on cross-functional business teams – with managers, analysts, and the China Analysis Center. Lead the testing, modeling and optimization of different marketing channels and across different marketing channels. Devise suitable business models and other quantitative models that will deliver clarity of understanding, permit valid inferences, and have functional predictive capability in optimizing performance on a global basis.

 

Assist in designing and evaluating tests, and employing other advanced data analysis techniques to effectively answer significant business opportunities.

 

Act as a consulting resource for any required reporting and communication tools that will be published across the company to deliver business inferences that support actionable planning.

 

Contribute significantly to the work of a dedicated team of managers and analysts who will be responsible for developing and deploying a suite of statistical models for estimation, prediction, and optimization of eBay’s Loyalty and Relationship Marketing businesses. 

 

Job Requirements:

A minimum of 4 years work experience in Engineering, Statistics, Econometrics, Financial Engineering, or similar Quantitative Research field is required. Formal knowledge of optimization theory is preferred. Experience and familiarity with web analytics and analysis is required. 

 

Expertise with at least one of the following statistical analysis applications is required: SAS, SPSS, or R/S-PLUS.  Familiarity with SQL, Teradata, VBA, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Access preferred. Superb project management skill is also preferred.


Candidates should be familiar with life cycle modeling, differential equations, stochastic processes, Poisson regression models, two-step models, Baysian modeling and CART.
